Storytime – 1:00 PM

 

My First Kwanzaa by Karen Katz – During the seven days of Kwanzaa, we celebrate the importance of family, friends, and community. This warm and lively introduction to a very special holiday will help even the youngest children join in! Author and illustrator Karen Katz’s wonderful series of picture books for the very young offer a simple and fun way to get familiar with the traditions of holiday celebrations from different cultures.

 

K is for Kwanzaa : A Kwanzaa Alphabet Book by Juwanda & Wilson-Max, Ken Ford – A great educational tool for teaching young children all about the Kwanzaa holiday.- Teaches the alphabet in a unique way.- Imparts valuable life lessons for all ages.-

 

Music & Movement – 2:00 PM

 

Join the Imaginators as they place the 7 Kwanzaa Candles in the Kinara candle holder and then listen and dance to the sound of the Drums!

 

Art Studio – Open 10:30 AM -3:30 PM

 

Kwanzaa Mask – The art Studio will offer a wonderful craft for Kwanza.  Guests will decorate their very own exotic Kwanza mask with candle stick hair.  The word that will be highlighted through the class is Kuumba (creativity) to make the community more beautiful and beneficial for the future generation through art.

 

African Drum – Guests will make a miniature drum to take home and enjoy. They will learn about Kwanzaa and how music and dance plays a huge role in this holiday.

 

Build It Lab – Open 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM

 

Unity Cups – Guests will make and paint mini unity cups.
